Almost Heaven - WVUJohn Denver sang that West Virginia was almost heaven but their opponents swear that playing a game there is like playing in hell, except the scenery is better and it's not as hot. |

Don't Stomp on the Bird - LouisvilleFrom Papa John's to KFC Yum Center, Louisville is a tough place for other teams to play. One Big East school discovered that the hard way when members of their football team stomped on the Cardinal before the game. The result of that act of disrespect? Only a 70-7 stomping of the opposing team, by the Cards. Lesson learned. |

Walk the Plank - Seton HallSeton Hall may not be the biggest university in the land but they have turned out an impressive list of professional athletes. Mo Vaughn, Chuck Connors ( yep the Rifleman ), Anthony Avent and Craig Biggio are but a few of the many athletes to play for the Pirates. Relive the memories and look to the future of Seton Hall athletics in this forum. |

Dome, Sweet, Dome - SyracuseLike the saying goes, "old members of Otto's Army never die, they just graduate and move on". Well maybe it doesn't say that exactly but something along those lines. Whatever the saying, Syracuse's athletic legends have left a big footprint in the sports world. Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and Carmello Anthony to name a few. Talk about them all, right here. |

The House that Lou Built - St. JohnsThe Red Storm has made an impression upon collegiate athletics. Known for great basketball and solid baseball, the Storm hold their own in all sports. |

Chinsegut Hill - USFAccording to USF tradition, the Inuit word "chinsegut" means place where lost things are found. Nothing could be more true because USF has found a solid athletic program with great athletes, rabid fans and excellent coaching. |

Varsity Village - CincinnatiSo here I sat, wondering just exactly what a Bearcat was and then I found out it's a Binturong. Then I had to ask, "what is a Binturong"? Well, its a mascot for the U of Cincinnati and it stands for hard nosed football, great basketball, good baseball and other men's and women's sports. Come to Cincy and play them, you'll find out for yourself. However, it's easier and less painful to talk about them in this forum. |

The Cannon War - RutgersLegend has it that Frank "Pop" Rogers once said, "I would die for dear old Rutgers". Maybe he did say it or maybe he helped steal back the cannon from Princeton. Whatever the case, you don't have to die for dear old Rutgers but here in the Cannon War forum, you can keep 'em guessing. |

Rubbing Jonathan's Nose - UConnTradition dictates that rubbing the nose of the Husky mastcot Jonathan, is good luck before exams. I rubbed John's nose once and he hit me. Go figure. Over a hundred years of UConn athletic history with always solid basketball and football just coming into its own as Big East power. Opponents cannot overlook the other sports. |

Fighting Irish - Notre DameNo college is richer in tradition than Notre Dame. The list of past Notre Dame heroes is too long to type and my fingers would get tired if I tried. Better to enter this forum and talk about the glorious past and bright future of this famed athletic program. |

'Nova Nation - VillanovaWhen I was looking for something to write about 'Nova, I was immediately struck by how many national championships they have won, especially in track. For someone like myself, who can be timed with a calendar, that is impressive and their national championship in men;s basketball ain't too shabby either. |

The Cognomen Friar Statue - ProvidenceProvidence has had many different nicknames for their athletic teams throughout the years. The Cardinals, Dominicans, the Smith Hillers, North End Boys and Black/White before settling on Friars in 1929. That name fits as 13th century Friars were highly mobile and not confined to a single abbey or monastery, just like the basketball team, who can run like the wind and can beat you at any gym. |
